10 Things to be Thankful for this Thanksgiving’s 2017

There’s work, there’s school. Bad days and inconsistencies. There are confusing times, and there are difficult people. And with so much negativity building up, I guess this should be the perfect moment to pause and be thankful for the things that keep us going.

Eating out with family, watching a painfully sad tv show, talking about things you love, being with the people you love, warmth, playing basketball, online chatting with your best friends, late night talks, sharing secrets, being a total wacko, discovering new things, random bursts of happiness, being in love with words, music..

How you learn, not from school, but from people, from things.

So, I’m going to list down all the things that have made me happy the past few days in the midst of reality and everything in between. The ten things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving’s Season:

1. Being (finally) done with all cases and business presentations forever. At least in college, and at least for now.

2. The way a some people think blows me away. It’s kind of a weird thing to be thankful for, but as I’m sure I’ve said to someone before–I have a habit of falling in love with people’s minds.

3. It’s almost Christmas. The Christmas tree is up, and there are lights, and  songs about snow. It’s that time of the year again.

4. Having my family complete in time for December. My brother is back, my family is whole, and the dinner table has never been louder and more occupied than ever.  We never see it coming growing up, at least I never thought much of it before. But now it’s clearer than ever that even family will separate one day. And that time together grows less.

4.5. Family. Always.

5. Having meaningful, genuine, constant selfless friendship. I cannot reiterate how important friendship is to me.  Phonecalls, good morning messages, kwento sessions and strength given to me by my lifefriends.

6.  Having a dream that gives me purpose, and pushes me to do my best.

7. I am thankful for mundane things. Like for example, the fact that my Japan parcel has finally reached my home (lol).

8. Having things that make me calmer. Lit candles, Jasmine tea, playing piano and music by Honne

9. One time, I was driving home, and I realised that if I never met specific people in my life, I would never think in a certain (positive, selfless, humble) way. For that, I am thankful for everything I’ve learned from others.

10. Everything I’ve learned within.

I think the list is absolutely endless, but I’ll stop there for now. Life is full of wonderful mysteries, after all.

Happy (late) thanksgiving guys. Really sorry about that. This was one of the most difficult entries to write, which is precisely why it took me almost three weeks to actually post it. I’m not going to blame school or work or anything else because let’s face it, I’ve been able to sequentially and consistently come up with something so far, until now. It’s not that I couldn’t find reasons to be thankful. I could, I did. I’d write about it, every time I felt thankful for something or someone. To be honest, I just couldn’t come up with something that satisfied me. One night, my friend messaged me something that briefly inspired me, and so I wrote, and it’s here, and I’m back. With a new name.

Lastly:

11. That this entry is finally done.

And

12. Stars.

That’s it for this week! Hope that you enjoyed reading. Comment down what you’re thankful for this thanksgiving season. See you in the next one!

Special thanks to: KT for helping me get me my new name.
